I often hear in the rooms, ” that when i heard the word God i was turned away from what was offered to me” People think AA is a cult, because of the word God.
But in reality its millions of people were reformed, because two men, sat together and learned how to live life on lifes terms, and they had come to believe in a higher power, they then went out and talked to others and people saw the light in their words and they too ” came to believe that a higher power could restore them to sainty”.
Mahatma Gandhi is a man who i have followed over the years because his kindness and courage are timeless. He is correct in saying “God has no religion” how can he when he is a spirt that we believe created our earth and is the reason why there is so many different paths to believing in him, not just the Catholics and protestants.
I do not a have a set religion, i do not believe that there is a God as such, i am getting married in my families home church, but that is more for tradition than faith. I was raised to believe, went to sunday school and did religious instruction at school, but i have opened my heart, eyes and ears to see and hear what other faiths have to say.
I believe that my higher power is my gut instinct and it is watching out for me.
For a long time i lost my higher power as i understand it. It was a dark wilderness i do not ever want to encounter again.
Here is another great and peaceful person i love to see. Mother Teresa is true essence of kindness, love and courage. A lady who followed her heart. I treat every person i meet as an equal, even if they do not like me.
Came to believe a power greater than me could restore me to sanity. ( step 2 from the AA big book)
For me i have now come to believe that i can only use my own power to restore my sanity. I have to follow my heart, work on my own fears, because no one else can do it for me, only i can do it for me.
Baby steps, keeping it simple and taking care of the small things, before they get big.
Recovery is possible if you really want it.
